Reiki was the thing that got me to start "Jewels Therapy". I had experienced the many benefits of Reiki both for myself and for my family, friends and animals. I had explored using it for anything really and felt that I could offer this to others too.
I first encountered Reiki when I had first got Polly, another lady on our livery yard used it and when a pony became lame one morning (the vet had been called), she gave this pony some lovely Reiki and wow, the pony came sound that day and the vet was postponed and then cancelled. I often had some Reiki from this lady after I had injured my back, it was always beneficial.
Then we moved to Scotland and one of our ponies had a tendon injury and I felt she needed some Reiki but I didnt know anyone who could help so yes you guessed it, I found a course and bagan my own Reiki journey.
My Reiki 1st degree was a 6 week course in Peterhead via the college and was just fab!! I also met a good friend there too.
The following year after practising I took 2nd degree in the same fomat with the same tutor. I found that my own Reiki was very much intuitive, I didnt stick to a set routine, I would focus on where I was drawn to and I was loving it.
I was now in a position to offer to others, I was classed as a practitioner so thats what I did. I love that every single session is unique, the set up and client may be the same but the session wont be.
I had decided to offer free info sessions with demos to horsey yards, my passion and favourite is working with equines yet I felt many people didnt really know anything about it or how it could help. I really enjoyed these. After a talk about Reiki I would give a few minutes 0f Reiki to a few people and then I would have a horse that I didnt know as my client, I would give them a short Reiki session and describe what I was being drawn to and what I felt. Im pleased to say that I found every trouble spot on each horse!- and person too. Its not just aout finding the problem areas though. Once found, the Reiki can be focussed on that area of the body which will direct the energy there which is the whole aim, not just to say which the areas are. Through my experience I can feel these areas and can also feel once they have taken enough telling me its time to move on.
I have to say here that this was the first time my husband had seen me give a Reiki session to a horse, well apart from the odd moments with our own ponies, and he was quite amazed at the fact that I could pinpoint the problems.
I was pleased to say that these demos lead to clients, I met some lovely people and their horses and ponies. Some would have just the 1 session and others would have a few more, all would benefit.
As time went on I began to think about the next step to become a Reiki Master/Teacher. I searched about locally but there wasnt any there, the nearest ones being too far for me to travel so I searched online. I felt I had enough experience to choose this method and so I took a course which covered all 3. I revisited 1st degree and second degree and then went on to Master/Teacher. I loved that too. After a while when I felt the time was right I put my 1st degree manual together and taught it. I really enjoyed it! I also put together 2 Reki for animals courses too, foundation and advanced. The Reiki for animals seemed such a logical thing to offer, I had learned many things over the years with animals which I felt others could benefit from learning and trying out. I think I might be feeling like putting together another one!! Please ask or wait for a future blog.
I will never become a millionaire by giving Reiki, it seems to move in waves which also suits me and my circumstances at home too. By the time I take into account all of my costs I dont make much money but I know Ive helped a person, or horse or both.
Just now Im not travelling out anyway but have had a few distance sessions which are always interesting. I think they may be the subject of my next blog!
